Happy vs Joy

Did you know there is a difference between Happy and Joy? There is, Happy or Happiness is the emotion and Joy is the state of being. Let’s unbox these two.
Happy is defined as “feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.” Happiness is defined as “the state of being happy.” So basically Happy is a laugh, whereas Happiness is laughing. Have you ever suffered depression? You can be Clinically depressed, even severely clinically depressed and still have moments of happiness. You cannot truly be Joyful and be Clinically Depressed, they are opposite states of being.
Joy is defined as “the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires.” I realize the definition uses the word “emotion,” but look deeper at the definition. Well-being is the true core of a state of being, and to be well is to truly be joyful. I also challenge that what we all “Desire” is a true deep sense of Joy and Peace (we’ll talk about peace tomorrow). The article I am linking today talks about the difference as being internal versus external, Joy is internal and Happiness is external. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/finding-love-the-scientific-take/202108/choose-joy Find your Joy today 💞
